Where it all started..

I had a hard time trying to figure out how I should start my first post, so I decided I'd start with how I first discovered a love for the art.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this, is Art Attack.

As a kid growing up, this showed me that there was a chance for art everywhere if you only had your eyes open to see it. Art wasn't about the best paint across an expensive canvas. Art was the chance to create something that brings out emotion. That is still my most basic definition of art.

Here's to making more!

Up the Range

So I've had it in my head for a while that I wanted to take some dorky 90's photos.
I put together a bit of a collage of what I was inspired by and then Luke and I went from there.

Hope you enjoyed! x

always wanted to...

If there is one thing I have always wanted to do, besides get better at illustration, its illustrate or produce a music video.
Like this one...It's crazy good.

I have watched Rage (a music video show on TV) almost every Saturday morning since I was 8(ish). The first film clip I remember watching (after Brittany Spears and Nikki Webster) was Gotye - Hearts A Mess.

It's a beautiful film clip and I would defiantly say it was one of the reasons I began to love art and illustration so much.

B E H I N D the A R T: Such Great Heights

Not only is this my favourite song by the Postal Service (listen) but its also the words I think of when I read this Psalm..

33He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights (Ps 18:33).

My obsession with colour has grown and, like always, I am glad I have something decent to show.
Enjoy!

B E H I N D the A R T: Lion

This is where it all started for me.
This guy was created with ink pens and water colours in 2010. It was after reading exodus 3.

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” 12 And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[b] will worship God on this mountain.” 13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,[d] the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

“This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
 from generation to generation."

I did a lot of pondering back then. I had the time.
When I look at this piece and remember all the dreams I had about the future and art and what I was born to do in this world…I remember why I wrote I AM WHO I AM in his mane.
Simply put, I can't fight with someone who already knows why I am the way I am and why I am here.
He told Moses to go. He told me to go and he told you to go.
So go.
You have a gift, use it. Don't worry about the next 10 years of your life, don't worry about next week.
Trust the creator of the gift inside of you.

That is what I hope this Lion yells at you.
Just like it yells at me.
